Background Information: | SUV4-20H2 (Suppressor of variegation 4-20 homolog 2) is a histone methyltransferase that adds methyl groups to histone H4 lysine 20 (H4K20), leading to the formation of the repressive chromatin mark H4K20me2 and H4K20me3. SUV4-20H2 is one of two paralogs of SUV4-20H family, which also includes SUV4-20H1. SUV4-20H2 is involved in the regulation of various cellular processes, including DNA damage response, heterochromatin formation, and telomere maintenance. It has been shown to play a role in the recruitment of DNA damage response factors to chromatin after DNA damage, and in the establishment of heterochromatin domains at repetitive DNA sequences, including telomeres.
SUV4-20H2 is an important histone methyltransferase that plays a critical role in the regulation of gene expression and the maintenance of chromatin structure. |
