Biological Information

Background Information:

IRAK (IL-1 Receptor Associated Kinase 1) is a Ser/Thr kinase which associates with the IL-1 Receptor subunits after IL-1 binding, by virtue of the adapter protein MyD88. Three IRAK molecules, IRAK1, IRAK2, and IRAK-M, can relay the NF-&kB-activating signal via TNFR-associated factor 6 (TRAF6) and TGF-b-activated kinase 1 to the IKK complex, which ultimately mediates NF-&kB activation. Inhibition of IRAK1 may reduce inflammation as well as apoptosis. GenBank NM_001569
