Biological Information

Background Information:

DDX3X is a multifunctional ATP-dependent RNA helicase that is able to regulate almost all stages of RNA metabolism, including transcription, pre-mRNA splicing, RNA export and translation. Dysfunction of the helicase has been shown to be important in various diseases, including viral infection, inflammation, intellectual disability and cancer. It has been demonstrated that DDX3X is overexpressed in many types of cancer including glioma, medulloblastoma, meningioma, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, lung cancer, breast cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, gallbladder carcinoma, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer and sarcoma.
