Biological Information

Background Information:

c-Cbl is a RING-type E3 ligase that functions as a key regulator of receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) signaling, linking activated receptors to the ubiquitin–proteasome system (UPS) to control receptor internalization, degradation, and signal termination. It has been shown to play a primary role in the onset and progression of a number of cancers. Modulating its function, either by enhancing its E3 activity to degrade overactive RTKs or inhibiting its adaptor functions, is an attractive therapeutic strategy.
