Background Information: | Rse (TYRO3 protein tyrosine kinase), also known as Brt, BYK, Dtk, Etk3, Sky, Tif, or even sea-related receptor tyrosine kinase, is a receptor tyrosine kinase with homology to Axl. Rse is widely expressed in the adult and present in variable amounts in neural, lymphoid, vascular, and reproductive tissues. It plays a role in PI-3 kinase signaling and clearance of apoptotic cells. Gas6 acts directly on mature osteoclasts through activation of Tyro 3 and p42/p44 MAPK, possibly contributing to the bone loss by estrogen deficiency.
