Background Information: | Proline-rich tyrosine kinase 2 (PTK2B) (also called CAKb for cell adhesion kinase b, RAFTK for related adhesion focal tyrosine kinase, or CADTK for calcium-dependent tyrosine kinase) is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase structurally related to focal adhesion kinase (FAK). PTK2B interacts with Src family kinases and focal adhesion proteins such as p130Crk-associated substrate (p130Cas) and its homologue p105 human enhancer of filamentation 1 (HEF1). PTK2B is particularly enriched in pulmonary vascular endothelial cells and lung, a major organ site for tumor metastasis. Inhibitors of PTK2B may be useful in the treatment of lung cancer.
