Biological Information
Background Information:
Protein serine/threonine kinase Aurora-A (STK6, STK15, BTAK, AIK, ARK1, AURA, Aurora-related kinase 1, Breast-tumor-amplified kinase) is one of a family of serine-threonine kinases that have been strongly linked to chromosome segregation and centrosome functions. There are three isoforms of Aurora kinase: A, B, and C. Molecular mechanism of Aurora-A regulation of G2-M transition is phosphorylation of histone H3. Inhibition of Aurora A may be useful in the treatment of many types of human cancer, including leukemia, colon and breast cancer. GenBank NM_003600. The recombinant protein also contains the conflict I31F with respect to GenBank NM_003600. This substitution is reported in GenBank NM_003158 and BC027464. The residue coordinates in the native sequence are given.
