Biological Information

Background Information:

Artemin is a disulfide-linked homodimeric neurotrophic factor structurally related to GDNF, artemin, neurturin and persephin. Artemin is highly expressed in the adult pituitary gland, placenta, and trachea, and shows low level expression in the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral tissues. Artemin signals through the RET receptor and GDNF family receptor alpha 3 (GFRŽ3) co-receptor complex to support neuronal survival.
