Biological Information
Background Information:
DNA-dependent helicase required for the maintenance of chromosomal stability. Involved in the repair of DNA double-strand breaks in a BRCA1-dependent manner. Identified as a tumour suppressor in DNA interstrand cross-link repair and double-strand break repair. Mutations in FANCJ are linked to Fanconi anemia (FA), hereditary breast, ovarian and colon cancers, as well as melanoma and prostate cancer.
