Biological Information
Background Information:
DDX43 belongs to the DEAD-box family of ATP-dependent RNA helicases and has been shown to have both RNA and DNA helicase activity. Evidence suggests that this helicase plays a role in piRNA amplification, tumorigenesis, RAS signaling, and innate immunity. DDX43 mRNA is highly enriched in a wide range of tumors and the protein has been detected at elevated levels in a variety of tumor tissues including the bladder, brain, breast, colon, esophagus, kidney, liver, lung, stomach, and small intestine. DDX43 has also been found to be overexpressed in more than 50% of chronic myeloid leukemia cases, 20% of acute myeloid leukemia cases, and more than 40% of multiple myelomas.
