PathHunter® Cell-Based Protease Assays

Frost & Sullivan selected DiscoveRx Corporation as the recipient of the 2006 Frost & Sullivan Award for Technology Innovation for its development of the PathHunter®, an innovative protein trafficking platform. PathHunter cell-based protease assays provides a novel, homogeneous approach for detection of secreted protein utilizing the prorietary Enzyme fragment complementation (EFC) technolgoy. In the identification of inhibitors to proteases, pharmarceutical companies consider specificity as a key assay feature. First generation MMP inhibitors failed in late stages of drug development because of promiscuity of proteases that resulted in a lot of side effects. PathHunter cell based protease assays thus provide specificity and cellular context offering a simple solution to the complex world of proteases.
