DiscoveRx was founded in January 2000 as a result of a spin-off from Microgenics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Boehringer Mannheim. In 2001, Discoverx completed Series A financing with Morgan Stanley as the lead investors. Subsequently, Alta joined Morgan Stanley as the lead investors which led to a successful closure of $22 million Series B funding.
