Interleukin 17A (IL-17, IL-17A) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine protein produced by activated T cells. Potent mediator in delayed-type inflammatory reactions that increases chemokine production and recruits monocytes and neutrophils to sites of inflammation. Agonist of the interleukin receptors IL-17RA, IL-17RB, and IL-17RC. High levels are associated with several chronic inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis.
