Nicotinic acid

It is a precursor of the coenzymes NAD and NADP, which play a role in hydrogen transfer processes, such as fat, carbohydrate, proein, and alcohol catabolism, DNA repair, cell signaling, etc. Insufficiency of nicotinic acid leads to nausea, skin and mouth lesions, anemia, headaches, tiredness, and in severe cases the disease pellagra. Medically used in the treatment of pellagra.
