Biological Information

Background Information:

The CDK2–cyclin E1 complex is a key cell-cycle regulatory kinase that governs the G1-to-S phase transition in eukaryotic cells. Cyclin E1 binds and activates CDK2, forming an active serine/threonine kinase complex that phosphorylates multiple substrates involved in DNA replication initiation, centrosome duplication, and cell-cycle progression. Aberrant activation of the CDK2–cyclin E1 complex is linked to oncogenic transformation, genomic instability, and replication stress. Overexpression or amplification of cyclin E1 is observed in breast, ovarian, colorectal, and lung cancers.
