Biological Information

Background Information:

Protein serine/threonine kinase PIM2 is a member of a small family of highly homologous kinases, including PIM1, PIM2, and PIM3, and all members are expressed in the thymus. Pim plays a role in cell survival, proliferation, differentiation and tumorigenesis. Overexpression of each of these members can promote lymphomagenesis in mice. Inhibition of PIM2 may be useful in the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL) and non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHL). GenBank U77735
