Biological Information
Background Information:
Myosins are ATPases, activated by actin, that move along actin filaments in the cell. This class of myosins are characterized by an amino-terminal kinase domain and shown to be present in photoreceptors. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Diseases associated with MYO3B include Deafness, Autosomal Recessive 30 and Entropion. Among its related pathways are Sensory processing of sound and PAK Pathway. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include transferase activity, transferring phosphorus-containing groups and protein tyrosine kinase activity. An important paralog of this gene is MYO3A. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2014]
