Summary
We are seeking a Senior Research Associate for our BioMAP Biology Research group with expertise in human primary cell culture and immune cell isolation and characterization, flow cytometry, and other immunodetection approaches. The ideal candidate should have extensive expertise and technical skills in flow cytometry, isolating and differentiating immune cell subsets from human peripheral blood and have a strong background in immunology, oncology or I-Onc. Hands-on technical experience in immune evaluation methods including flow cytometry, immunofluorescence or immunohistochemical procedures, microscopy, ELISA or other biochemical and immuno-based analysis of protein biomarker expression is required. The successful candidate will be involved in designing and executing flow cytometric experiments for compound testing in our proprietary BioMAP® disease models. The position also involves cell banking, data management and inventory tracking as well as being part of the quality management program. This candidate will work interactively with multiple departments, so excellent communication skills are essential.
 
Essential Functions
  • Design, execution and analysis of flow cytometric profiling projects for both client and internal projects.
  • Isolate, derive, characterize, qualify, and bank human immune cell types from buffy coats as well as patient-derived samples.
  • Participate in the analysis of date generated in vitro disease models performing a variety of cell-based assays and data analysis, working independently but within a team environment.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, assay operations notebooks and computer files.
  • Communicate results and present data at multi-disciplinary project team meetings.
  • Work cooperatively with scientists and personnel in other departments (e.g. Assay Operations and Scientific IT).
  • Other duties as required and assigned.
 
Required Education/Experience/Competencies
  • B.S. and 5+ years or M.S. degree and 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cell culture techniques, including proficiency and experience in designing, implementing and analyzing flow cytometry studies as well as other immune-detection approaches.
  • Must be able to write, edit and follow standard operating procedures, make careful observations, and keep clear and complete records of work.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized, self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Critical thinking, systematic problem solving skills, and flexibility are strongly desired traits.
 
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
 
Work Environment
Laboratory plus office based environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. There is potential for exposure to human tissues and fluids.

Job Title: Scientist II - Screening & Development Team (Compount and Experiment Layout)

Summary
Responsibilities shall include experimental layout and planning in a HTS drug discovery environment. This includes registering, tracking, and handling drug candidates and experimental molecules for both internal use and client projects. The position will require close interaction with DiscoverX’s Screening, Development and Project Management teams to ensure drug candidates and experimental molecules are plated accurately for efficient processing of HTS and lead optimization projects. Essential responsibilities will include ensuring that compounds are accurately registered, tracked, plated, and screened as requested by the client.

Essential Functions
  • Handle and array compounds on an experiment by experiment basis.
  • Accurately array compounds for HTS experiments.
  • Compound stock management and curation.
  • Database management and curation.
  • Basic laboratory skills, including liquid handling, reagent preparation, and chemistry-related calculations- including calculations of stock concentrations, making serial dilutions, etc.
  • Track inventory usage and predict future usage based on volume, etc.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.

Required Education/Experience/Competencies
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the life sciences or physical sciences.
  • 3+ years of experience in a High Throughput laboratory screening environment.
  • Must be proficient in Excel and other database/spreadsheet applications.
  • Must be proficient in organizing, weighing, and making compound stocks at desired concentrations.
  • Must be detail oriented with exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Highly motivated individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays may be required.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in pharmacology or HTS assay development.

Summary
The successful candidate for the Principal Scientist position will become an integral member of the PathHunter assay development team, with responsibility for designing and generating novel cellular assays for important therapeutic targets, including iOnc.

Essential Functions
  • Research, design and validate novel cell based assays for multiple DiscoverX technology platforms, with an emphasis on immunooncology targets.
  • Perform critical interpretation of data, formulate suggestions for alternate approaches to generating assays for challenging targets.
  • Prepare and present experimental data at group laboratory meetings, to management team and at external scientific meetings.
  • Prepare data and content for posters, manuscripts, white papers, user manuals, customer reports, or other relevant company materials.
  • Work diligently to meet product development goals set by management team.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.

Required Education/Experience/Competencies
  • Ph.D. in cell biology, immunology, cancer immunology or related discipline, with a minimum of 3 years of industrial experience.
  • Candidate is expected to be scientifically independent, a creative thinker, and able to rapidly identify solutions to complex problems.
  • Previous experience in cell-based assay development, particularly with immune-relevant cell models and analyses, such as ADCC, ADCP, T cell activation required.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills are essential.
  • Must be team-oriented with a demonstrated track record working in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Experience with flow cytometry methods and analysis strongly preferred.
