Background Information: | Death-associated protein kinase 1 (DAPK1) is a calcium/calmodulin-dependent kinase that phosphorylates serine/threonine residues on proteins. DAPK1 modulates cell death induced by IFN-γ, TNF-α, Fas, and detachment from the extracellular matrix. DAPK1 has been also implicated in TGF-β-induced apoptosis in several cultured cell lines in which Smad proteins mediate transcriptional activation of DAPK1.
